Political party and political coalition.
In May 2017, the organizations of the Únete front (Social Force, Citizens for Change, Communist Party of Peru – Red Fatherland, Peruvian Communist Party – Unity, and Movement for Socialism) and the Peruvian Humanist Party (PHP) decided to form a political party under the latter's electoral registration. It would henceforth be known as Juntos por el Perú (Together for Peru). Roberto Sánchez (PHP) was registered as president and Gonzalo García Núñez (Social Force) as general secretary.
Looking ahead to the 2018 regional and municipal elections, Together for Peru formed an alliance with the New Peru movement. It won 10 district mayoralties. This alliance remained in place for the 2020-2021 supplementary congressional elections, but failed to win any seats.
For the 2021 general elections, JP unsuccessfully nominated Verónika Mendoza, leader of New Peru, for president. The alliance won five seats: four for New Peru and one for Together for Peru (Roberto Sánchez). Before, during, and after the election, JP faced internal divisions. Citizen Force (a union between Social Force and CxC) decided to join the Purple Party. The PHP) opted to support Pedro Castillo's candidacy (PL) in the first round and officially withdrew from JP in December 2021. PCP – Red Fatherland followed suit around the same time. Members of New Peru resigned from JP starting in September 2021. PCP – Unity withdrew from the coalition the following year.
In the Congress of the Republic, the parliamentary group Together for Peru has undergone several changes in its composition. Initially, it was known as Democratic Change–Together for Peru, which included Roberto Sánchez of JP and the four congressmen from New Peru. This group was later joined by dissidents from Free Peru: Guillermo Bermejo, Hamlet Echevarría, Roberto Kamiche, and Nieves Limachi. Congresswoman Susel Paredes also joined later. Following the withdrawal of the Free Peru congressmen, including Paredes, from the caucus, congressmen from the teachers' union, linked to Pedro Castillo, joined. With this, the parliamentary group became known as Together for Peru – Voices of the People – Magisterial Bloc.
From 2022 onward, Together for Peru would be composed solely of a dissident faction of the PHP under the leadership of Roberto Sánchez. In the subnational elections of that year, it won four provincial mayoralties for the first time (Santa in Áncash, Calca and La Convención in Cusco, and Chiclayo in Lambayeque) and 38 district mayoralties.
In 2024-2026, two JP Congressmen were members of the Socialist Bench parliamentary group.
For the 2026 general elections, Together for Peru registered the candidacy of its leader, Roberto Sánchez, for the presidency of Peru. They would do so in alliance with Todo con el Pueblo (Everything with the People) of former president Pedro Castillo and the National Alliance of ethnocacerist Antauro Humala. The coalition was named Together with the People (Juntos con el Pueblo, also abbreviated JP). Voices of the People, JP's allies in Congress, ran in a coalition with New Peru, JP's former allies, under the name Venceremos.
On the parliamentary lists, Together for Peru included Pedro Castillo's adopted daughter, Yenifer Paredes, and his siblings, José Mercedes Castillo and Inés Castillo. Former members of Castillo's government (Íber Maraví, Anahí Durand, Hernando Cevallos, and Walter Ayala) and congressmen who supported the former president (Víctor Cutipa, Pasión Dávila, Margot Palacios, Jaime Quito, Silvana Robles, and Elías Varas) also ran. Antauro Humala's father, Isaac Humala, and ethnocacerist allies such as "Pepe" Feria and Marlon Aguirre were also candidates for JP.
Due to irregularities in the receipt of contributions, the National Elections Board fined Juntos por el Perú S/ 175,000 and reduced its electoral airtime allocation.
Sanchez advanced to the second round, and Together for Peru placed second in seats in both houses of Congress. In June 2026, Sanchez was defeated by Keiko Fujimori of Popular Force.
President: Roberto Sánchez (since 1 October 2017)
