Revolutionary Unity Front

FUR was created on 25 August 1975, initially under the name of Popular Unity Front, with the participation of the PCP, the MDP/CDE, the MES, the, the LUAR, the LCI, the PRP/BR and the 1º de Maio Organization; this appears with the intention of supporting the V Provisional Government and as a reaction to the demonstrations promoted and led by the Socialist Party. The 1º de Maio Organization left the FUP on August 26th and the PCP on the 28th, and from then on the alliance came to be called the Revolutionary Unity Front.

Having been created to support the Fifth Provisional Government, which resigned in mid-September, the Revolutionary Unity Front ceases to have meaning and is extinguished.
