Free-minded People's Party

Frisinnade folkpartiet

A Swedish parliamentary party from 1924 to 1935. The party was formed after the parliamentary party Liberal Coalition Party split over the issue of alcohol prohibition, with the opponents of prohibition forming the Liberal Riksdag Party. The Liberals' national party Free-minded National Association became a member of the Free-minded People's Party because the majority of its members supported their line. The Liberal Riksdag Party instead formed a new national party under the name of the Liberal Party of Sweden. After the Free-minded National Association and the Liberal Party of Sweden had merged in 1934 under the name of the People's Party, the Free-minded People's Party and the Liberal Riksdag Party ceased to be parliamentary parties in 1935, with the formation of the People's Party parliamentary group.

Chairperson: Carl Gustaf Ekman (9 January 1924 – 1932), Felix Hamrin (1933 – January 1935)
