A short-lived proto-Eurasian political movement in Russia, led by philosopher Alexander Dugin and prominent writer Alexander Prokhanov.
The "New Right" movement emerged in the early 1990s as an intellectual current and political force in opposition to the Western aspirations of the Gorbachev-era Soviet Union.
In July 1992, Alexander Dugin, who worked at the Arktogeya publishing house, founded the New Right journal "Elements."
In February 1993, Alexander Dugin, with the support of a group of fans of the magazine "Elements" and the support of the Front of National Revolutionary Action, announced the creation of the "Movement of the New Right."
On 1 May 1993, together with the "new-left" leader of the small National Radical Party, Eduard Limonov, Dugin signed an "order" to create the "National Bolshevik Front," which later became the National Bolshevik Party.
Alexander Dugin was party leader.
