A mass socio-political organization that operated in the Socialist Republic of Serbia from 1944 to 1990 as the republic-level branch of the Socialist Alliance of Working People of Yugoslavia.
It was established on 14 November 1944, under the name United People's Liberation Front of Serbia. Following the First Congress of the People's Front of Yugoslavia in August 1945, it changed its name to the People's Front of Serbia. It was founded on the platform of uniting organizations and individuals who had supported the People's Liberation Movement (NOP) during World War II. At its Fourth Congress in April 1953, it changed its name to the Socialist Alliance of Working People.
Like other socio-political organizations in the SFR Yugoslavia, it was under the control and domination of the League of Communists. It comprised two provincial organizations operating in the SAP of Vojvodina and the SAP of Kosovo. The organization was led initially by a Main Committee and, from 1967 onwards, by the SSRN Republic Conference. The newspaper Politika served as the official organ of the SSRN of Serbia.
Following the dissolution of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ), the leaderships of the Socialist Alliance and the League of Communists of Serbia decided to merge into a single political party, forming the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) on 17 July 1990.
