Nucleus of Socialist Doctrine and Action

A Portuguese political organization opposed to the Estado Novo dictatorship.

It was founded in Lisbon in December 1942 by a group of university students and later expanded to Coimbra.

Among its members, some of whom were sons of leaders of the republican left during the First Republic, were José Magalhães Godinho, Vitorino Magalhães Godinho, Afonso Costa Filho, Mário de Castro, Gustavo Soromenho, António Macedo, Mário Cal Brandão, Artur Santos Silva, Paulo Quintela, José Joaquim Teixeira Ribeiro and Fernandes Martins.

In 1944, the organization joined the Democratic Union to form the Socialist Union.
