Ahora Nación

(Now Nation)

Ahora Nación was founded on 13 May 2023, under the leadership of Alfonso López-Chau, former rector of the National University of Engineering (UNI), who became known for sheltering protesters at the university where he served as rector.

The party was formed during Peru's 2022-2023 social unrest. In June 2024, Alfonso López-Chau announced his intention to run for president in the 2026 elections.

In 2025, the National Elections Board (JNE), through the National Directorate of the Registry of Political Organizations, suspended the application for registration of the electoral alliance between Ahora Nación and Salvemos al Perú due to internal disagreements within the latter party regarding the continuation of the alliance.

Two Ahora Nación congresspeople of 2021-2026 Congress were part of the People's Democratic Bloc parliamentary group.

AN managed to win four seats in the Senate and ten in the Chamber of Deputies during the 2026 election. In a presidential race, López-Chau finished seventh with 7.29% of voted.
