A Spanish political association based in Navarre, not constituted as a political party, with left-wing Basque nationalist, secularist and republican orientation. It was created on 1 September 2011 by ex-members of Eusko Alkartasuna and Aralar, that opposed the merge of those parties in Bildu, and supported continuing in Nafarroa Bai. Its most prominent leader is Uxue Barkos, President of the Government of Navarre from 2015 to 2019.
Zabaltzen emerged as a way to promote the continuity of Nafarroa Bai after its departure in early 2011 from Eusko Alkartasuna to join Bildu, and from Batzarre to join Izquierda-Ezkerra, and in response to Aralar's decision in September to run in the 2011 general elections alongside Bildu in the Amaiur coalition.
The Navarrese branch of Hamaikabat (a splinter group from Eusko Alkartasuna) expressed its support for the non-affiliated members of Nafarroa Bai and encouraged them to follow the example of Atarrabia Taldea.
For its part, Aralar, the legal owner of the Nafarroa Bai brand, prevented the Basque Nationalist Party and Zabaltzen from continuing to use it, so in the general elections they ran under the name Geroa Bai.
According to its statutes, Zabaltzen aims to "make visible the left, Basque nationalism, and inclusive nationalism that aspire to a pluralistic political change in Navarre, respectful of its identities."
President: Koldo Martínez Urionabarrenetxea (28 January 2012 – 12 March 2016), Ana Ansa (12 March 2016 – present)
