Canarian Coalition
Coalición Canaria
A Spanish federation of political parties based in the Canary Islands, comprising several regionalist, insularist, centrist, and liberal parties. Founded in 1993 as a coalition, it was officially registered and established as the current federation in 1997.
It held the presidency of the Canary Islands Autonomous Community uninterruptedly from 1993, when it came to power through a vote of no confidence, participating in every government, either alone or in coalition with other political parties, until 2019. Following this, the Canary Coalition regained the presidency of the Canary Islands in 2023.
In the Spanish Parliament, CC is part of the Mixed Group in the Congress of Deputies with one representative, and the Plural Group in the Senate with one appointed senator.
In 2023, the Canarian Nationalist Party (PNC) and the Independent Herreña Group (AHI), the last wing of Canarian nationalist ideology in the federation, announced their split.
