Overview

A liberal parliamentary party in the second chamber of the Swedish Riksdag. The party was formed on 29 April 1895 by 32 members of parliament. The People's Party's program was written by Fridtjuv Berg and David Bergström, and the party's chairman was Jöns Bromée. About half were radical liberals from the Stockholm area, but the group also had a strong element of farmers from Norrland and Dalarna. On 16 January 1900, the People's Party joined the newly formed Liberal Coalition Party.
