United Right Party

Förenade högerpartiet

A political party in the first chamber of the Swedish Riksdag during the period 1888–1911. The party had a unifying message of tariff friendliness, and because it united a large majority of the members of the first chamber, it was also called the Protectionist Majority Party, the Great Party or just the First Chamber's Majority Party. In 1910 the party changed its name to the United Right Party, and in 1912 it became part of the First Chamber's National Party, which in turn became part of the Right Party in 1935.

After a meeting on January 15, 1910, party chairman Ernst Trygger summarized the party's tasks: "Our party wants to characterize itself as a modern right, with an open eye for the needs of the times, unafraid to take up the knife to cut away what is rotten in society, but with reverent tenderness preserving the priceless values that we possess in our homeland, our spiritual and our material culture."

Chairperson: Patric Reuterswärd (16 January 1888 – 1899), Christian Lundeberg (1899–1908), Ernst Trygger (1909 – January 1912)
