Hungarian Movement

Magyar Mozgalom Мађарски покрет Mađarski pokret

A political organization established in 2015 that represents the Hungarian minority in Vojvodina. The Hungarian Movement emerged to fill the void left when the Hungarian Hope Movement suspended its political activities in 2014; it currently holds an opposition position in the Hungarian National Council (MNT), the minority parliament for Vojvodina's Hungarians, as well as in the municipal assembly of Subotica.

The new movement was founded by 250 people on August 15, 2015. By 2021, membership had reached 750. The party's first electoral test was the 2016 Vojvodina parliamentary election. Four years later, on October 17, 2020, the movement held leadership elections. On that day, the co-presidency system was abolished; Ferenc Sövény, an entrepreneur and politician from Subotica, took over as the movement's leader, while József Sándor was elected vice-president.

In November 2021, the movement announced it would contest the elections scheduled for April 3, 2022, ensuring there would be Hungarian candidates other than those representing the VMSZ.

On December 6, 2022, they announced the suspension of their political activities and stated that they would continue to operate as a civil society organization.
