A far-left, Maoist political party, created from a faction of the Communist Party of Portugal (Marxist–Leninist), on the initiative of Heduíno Gomes, pseudonym Vilar.
Officially registered with the STJ in 1975, under the name of Aliança Operário-Camponesa, it changed its name and acronym to "Partido Trabalhista" (PT) in 1979, having run in the Portuguese legislative elections of 1980, the year in which its symbol became a closed hand holding a rose.
In 2000, its extinction was decreed by the STF for not carrying out any activity since 1983.
Just like the PCP(m-l) and the MRPP, the AOC/PT distinguished itself from other far-left groups by electing the PCP and Álvaro Cunhal as its main enemies instead of the UDP, for example, which coincided with the traditional left in designating capitalism and the United States of America as its main adversaries.
Leader: Heduíno Gomes
