Portuguese Marxist–Leninist Communist Organization
Organização Comunista Marxista-Leninista Portuguesa
An organization and later a Portuguese political party, now dissolved. It was created in 1973 from the merger of heirs of the Portuguese Marxist-Leninist Committee (CMLP), Núcleos O Comunista and the Porto group that published the newspaper O Grito do Povo.
In 1975, the group formed the "Electoral Front of the Communists (Marxists–Leninists)" - FEC(m-l), officially registering as a party at the Supreme Court of Justice. Its political line advocated the fight against North American imperialism and Soviet imperialism.
In 1976, it changed its name and acronym to the Portuguese Marxist–Leninist Communist Organization (OCMLP), and later that year, it joined the Portuguese Marxist-Leninist Committee (CM-LP) and the Organization for the Reconstruction of the Communist Party (Marxist–Leninist) (ORPC(ML) and founded the Portuguese Communist Party (Reconstructed) (PCP(R)). Shortly before the merger, the OCMLP had gone through a process of split the majority with a strong base in Porto, passed with the merger plans to the PC(R), a minority, which maintained a strong emphasis on the issue of fighting social fascism, refused the merger and continued a separate existence, continuing its action and running for elections until 1983.
In 1988, the STF noted the dissolution of the OCMLP, as had been resolved in its V National Congress.
