National United Resurgence

Resurgimiento Unido Nacional

According to its bylaws, the party began as an independent movement that later acquired the status of a political party upon its registration on 19 August 2002, and changed its name to RUNA on 15 June 2013.

In 1992, notary Ciro Gálvez founded the Andean Renaissance political party and later, in the 2001 general elections, ran for president of the Republic, finishing in sixth place. In those elections, the party also fielded candidates for Congress in all regions of the country; however, they only obtained one deputy: Eduardo Salhuana.

For the 2006 general elections, he again ran for president, but on 7 April 2006, two days before the election, he unofficially withdrew from the race, expressing his support for Lourdes Flores's candidacy. He did not submit a formal resignation, and this did not affect the vote. He received 0.186% of the vote, placing 15th in the election.

On 15 June 2013, Gálvez re-established his Andean Renaissance party, changing its name to National United Renaissance (RUNA) because, according to Gálvez, they wanted to "relaunch the movement with a more inclusive name." The party formed an alliance with the independent group Siempre Unidos, led by the mayor of Los Olivos, Felipe Castillo.

On 28 October 2020, Gálvez registered his pre-candidacy for the 2021 Peruvian general elections. He commented that they would "face the 2021 elections with their own members, without any electoral or political alliances, nor with well-known figures." As a result, the party obtained 0.50% of the vote, without parliamentary representation, thus losing its registration.

In July-October 2021, Ciro Gálvez served as Minister of Culture under Pedro Castillo (PL) presidency.

In 2024, the party changed its name to National United Resurgence, keeping its acronym RUNA, with the aim of re-registering to participate in the next elections. However, the party did not appeal its registration by the 12 April 2025 deadline. Gálvez rejected the challenge against his party, asserting that they had met all legal requirements and had no ties to the Perú Libre party.

In June of the same year, the party achieved its registration with the JNE, but would not participate in the 2026 general elections, instead participating in the regional and municipal elections of that year.

In 2026 elections, RUNA participated inside Venceremos alliance.
